Listening to the Whispers of the Heart

Image
"Oh I'm falling slowly love with you~~~." The season of love is here!! Do you know the the reason why we celebrate the day of love? Hmmmm..... how about we talk about it?  To begin, Valentines was a holiday celebrated by the Christians in Rome during the 3rd century A.C.E. This is because the emperor that time, Emperor Claudius II executed 2 men named Valentine. It was rumored that one of the men, St. Valentine would perform secret marriage ceremonies, as it was forbidden by the Emperor. When the then Emperor Claudius found out, he ordered for the priest to be killed, and that day was on the 14th of Febuary. After that, it was celebrated as remembrance for the 2 martyrs, named Valentine.         Although its original meaning and purpose didn't stay. It became so much more. Today, Valentine's day is now one of the most celebrated holiday's in a year! It is the day where everyone is free to show their love, appreciation, and...

Knowledge is Power: Why we Filipinos Celebrate the Chinese new Year!

Image
Kung Hei Fat Choi! Chinese New Year has just celebrated in the Philippines! Have you ever wondered, why we, a nation that has never been colonized by the star country, celebrate one of the most significant holidays for the Chinese?  If you ask me, I thinks its about giving respect to something many of our chinese-filipino friends celebrate, its also out of respect for the centuries of history the ancient Chinese and Filipino's had. So? Why don't we learn about the reason why we celebrate Chinese New Year as Filipino citizens! The origins of Chinese New Year celebration in the Philippines can be traced back to the early Chinese traders who arrived in the islands long before the Spaniards did. These traders, primarily Hokkien-speaking people from Southern China, established settlements and integrated with the local population. Over time, their traditions, including the Chinese New Year, became interwoven with the Filipino way of life. Today, Binondo in Manila is known as the o...

Viva Vigan! The "Barter" City of the Philippines

Image
Vigan City,  my hometown the place where I was born. The Ilocano City known for its well-preserved Spanish-era architecture, it has long been a symbol of cultural heritage. Vigan's journey from a  trading port for 'barter" or "trading" to a thriving city is a testament to its resilience and adaptability. This  delves into the transformation of Vigan City, exploring its historical significance, development over the years, and the impact of its city status.  Vigan's history dates back to the pre-colonial era when it was a flourishing trading post. Chinese merchants frequented the area, trading goods with the indigenous people. The arrival of the Spanish colonizers in the 16th century marked a significant turning point for Vigan. Under Spanish rule, Vigan became an important administrative and religious center. The establishment of the Villa Fernandina de Vigan in 1572 laid the foundation for the municipality. The Spanish influence is evident in the town's ...

Longganisa Festival and my struggles that came with it

Image
For the third quarter , gathering and compiling evidence for the Community-Based Research (CBR) on the Longganisa Festival in Vigan was a challenging task. This research was important to understand the festival's impact on the community and its role in promoting local culture and arts. The first problem was finding relevant and reliable sources of information. Many hours were spent looking through books, articles, and online sources. Each piece of evidence needed to be carefully checked to make sure it was trustworthy. The pressure to meet tight deadlines made the work even more stressful and left little room for mistakes. Another difficulty was using coding techniques to analyze the data. Learning and applying these coding methods was tough and took a lot of time. Many coding errors came up, and fixing them was frustrating and tiring. This added to the mental strain and made the task more complicated. The workload had a clear effect on both physical and mental health. Late nights ...

MY CBR EXPERIENCE  Starting a Community-Based Research (CBR) project was surprisingly fun and funny, especially for someone like me who struggles with coding. What began as a tough task turned into an adventure filled with laughter and learning. It not only improved my coding skills but also gave me some good memories. At first, coding was tough. I faced many syntax errors and logic loops. But instead of getting frustrated, I found humor in my mistakes. The first confusing error message made me laugh at how silly it was. I also found coding forums where others shared their funny experiences, which made me feel better. Each day, my confidence grew. I laughed at my mistakes and started to enjoy coding. Each bug was a puzzle to solve, and each small success felt great. The CBR project slowly came together, and I started to like coding more. This experience taught me patience and the joy of learning. Meanwhile, I also researched the Longganisa Festival. This event, celebrated in differ...

Another year: A better me

Image
Did you enjoy the New Year's? Was the fireworks fun as well as the games? Was the food delicious? Well as another year has come I want to achieve a new me. Someone who has grown as a better human who cares for everyone and is selfless. I want to have more meaning in the way I live my life as it is. I want to go to church more devoting myself to the lord. Achieving all of this  will be hard and challenging but it will be worth it. Last year was a good year to me, but there are just some things that need to be changed. I aim to change my study habits. This is because I was quite bad with my habits last year. I mostly  scrolled on my phone instead of actually studying. It made it so that I failed a lot of test and was clueless of the many things I actually need to learn. I also want to be a more available friend to my friends. I realized that many of us are struggling with life and expectations put on them, so I want to be someone that with just a heavy thought, they lean o...
